Francisco Juárez Iglesias was born in Teziutlán, Puebla, Mexico, on 8 May 1911, to parents Francisco Juárez Velasco and Josefa Iglesias Barrientos. Both his parents died when he was very young, leaving him orphaned by the age of 6. He was raised by two of his maternal aunts, named Concepción and Esther Iglesias. He began his studies at the Teziuteco high school in his hometown, where he studied until the fifth grade of primary school, to later continue his studies in Mexico City. At the end of high school he returned to Teziutlán, where he started working in a grocery store.

Later he had the opportunity to work in the federal treasury offices. After that, he worked in the city of Puebla in a sock factory. Eventually, he started his own candy shop called “Dulcelandia” in his hometown, which he has maintained for 70 years. In 1950, he married Maria Luisa Valdés, with whom he had seven children.

On 30 January 2020, the Teziutlán City Council recognized him for his career, naming him a “Distinguished Citizen”, receiving an award from Mayor Carlos Peredo Grau, noting that “[he] has led a very long and fruitful life, being today the oldest resident of our city”. He was known as “Don Paco”.

Francisco Juárez Iglesias died in Teziutlán, Puebla, Mexico, on 25 October 2022, at the age of 111 years, 170 days. He was survived by his wife, who was 97 years old at the time.
