Anna Ringier-Kieser was born on a farm in Lenzburg, Aargau, Switzerland on 12 April 1896. She earned a living by working in a shoe store. In 1920, she married Hans Ringier, and the pair moved to Zofingen, Aargau. The couple had two children together, but were married for only 10 years before Hans’ death in 1930. In 1984, she began living with her son in his home.

Her favorite hobby was reading, being particularly fond of newspapers and magazines. She attributed her longevity to eating a healthy diet and getting lots of sleep every night. At the time of her 110th birthday in 2006, she was physically healthy, and had maintained her cognitive faculties.

She passed away in Aargau, Switzerland on 3 September 2006, aged 110 years, 144 days. Reportedly, she had not been sick immediately prior to her death, and had simply not wanted to leave her bed.
